Today we are going to take a look at the Avatars leading each of the four starter decks of our first release. All four of these Avatars are distinct in their strategies and offer a gameplay experience that is sure to appeal to a variety of playstyles.
Zeus, Crowned in Thunder
Zeus is an Avatar that is well-suited to dishing out damage to enemy champions with both its Avatar power and Rush ability. Zeus’ aspects of Intuition and Prophecy lend themselves to a strategy that is looking to establish board control through removal with effect damage. Several cards within the Greek Loyalty support this tactic with different ways to inflict effect damage or even increase the damage other cards do. Support your allies by removing their threats for them! Pegasus, Winged Thunder can deal up to 4 damage when combined with the Spartan Training Grounds location!
Ix Chel, Lady Rainbow
As an Avatar, Ix Chel excels at casting spells and cycling them back into your hand with its Avatar power. The Rush ability extends the spell-casting support to your fellow allied Avatars as well. There are very powerful spells within Ix Chel’s repertoire to open the way to our allied players. This Avatar is well-suited for players who enjoy control-based strategies and looking ahead to the endgame. Begin the game by shaping future hands with cards like Calculating Theorist, to inevitably bring spells like The Great End to fruition. Bring back some of those lower cost spells by using Ix Chel’s Avatar power while bringing down the cost of larger spells with the Rush ability.
Isis, Empyrean Beacon
Isis, Empyrean Beacon is focused on stacking multiple locations on the battlefield to bring forth victory. Locations are harder to get rid of when compared to champions, so using your champion zones to build more locations can lead to powerful payoffs. Be careful you do not overbuild, as you may run out of space to summon champions! Some locations are also Fabled, and you may only control one at a time of the same name! Great Sphinx of Giza is a great location that allows you to normally activate the effect of a location of another allied player. However, with Isis, you can trigger your own locations like Great Pyramid twice in a turn!
Amaterasu, Sky’s Light
Amaterasu, Sky’s Light as an Avatar is centered around the stunned keyword. Stunning a champion prevents it from collecting Ikorr it has raided and from attacking for a whole round from when it was stunned. Amaterasu’s Avatar power and Rush ability are poised to punish stunned champions. Sway the momentum of the game in your favor by stunning multiple opposing champions while your allied champions attack and secure Ikorr. Amaterasu’s power and ability do not care who is doing the stunning either—rely on your allied players to stun champions and get more value out of your Avatar by having multiple sources of stun.
These are our headlining Avatars for our first four starter decks coming soon. With a variety of different ways to secure victory, there is something here for everyone. The main booster box release will feature even more champions, locations, and spells to bolster your game plan. Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with Rush of Ikorr as more cards are revealed.
