Greetings faithful Vs. System 2PCG fans! Welcome to our next look into the final chapter of the Symbiotes Arc for the game. The first 55-card Issue in the Arc, Lethal Protectors, focused on Venom and some other symbiotes. It introduced a new Evil team, the Symbiotes (). The second Issue, took a look at some characters more interested in “Carnage” than “friendship”. This final Issue involves some Spider-Friends who have had dealings with the symbiotes.
Before we look at the cards, a reminder about symbiotes, hosts, and AKA. From the rules:
AKA is used quite a bit in the Arc, as the Symbiotes change hosts often. And it can be confusing with symbiotes in particular, as they are sentient beings as well. For example, the character Venom could have the AKA of every other hero and villain who ever used the same symbiote, like Agent Venom. Then Agent Venom would need AKA Venom as well. But we’ve already made Venoms and Agent Venoms without these AKAs. Our solution was to focus on the hosts, so any character with Eddie Brock as its host has AKA Venom.
Now that that’s taken care of, let’s get on with the Story!
Not that kind of story… Wait, how did that get in here? And what do you mean you can’t stop them from bonding?
Sheesh, it seems we really are in a Bind here.
If you have a character with a Bind power in your deck, you must start the game with a set-aside Binding Pile. This pile is Mandatory (you must include particular cards) and Private (opponents can’t look at its contents.) The pile is made up of any Main Characters mentioned on the Bind cards in your deck and any Main Characters. Those Main Characters can Level Up or Down into (these additional Main Characters Level Up and Down as normal once on your side).
Also, if that Main Character requires any piles of its own, you get to have those piles as well. (This is an exception to the usual pile rules. What can we say? Symbiotes are hard to get rid of.)
Your opponent does not need to KO this additional Main Character to defeat you.
If only we had a Hero to use these powers for good.
As a reminder Peter can only turn into this version of Spider-Man with the help of the Venom Symbiote.
But Peter is no stranger to a costume change. Here are four!
Hopefully with all these identities he can stand against the immeasurable might of Carnage in his final form!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our very first look at the Spider-Verse Issue of the Symbiotes Arc! Join us next time as we call in some much needed reinforcements to the spider-friends team!
Wield the Symbiotes to your advantage when Vs. System 2PCG: Spider-Verse comes to stores on November 24th!
